I have a 2025 Jeep Wrangler (2 dr Willys) with the 3.6 Pentastar engine. Since I bought it back in January, with less than 7000 miles on it, it has had an intermittant skip or miss. Over time I determined that when the problem happens it is at about 1600 rpm and is most noticable when accelerating in 3rd or 4th gear (6 sp manual). So far it is just a single miss. I'd like to get some idea of what might be the cause before taking it into a dealer for correction under warranty. No check engine light shows and my code reader shows no code. I am afraid the dealer will see nothing on their diagnostic equipment and say there is nothing to correct.

Ask the dealer if you can take a mechanic for a test drive? If they can hold the tool and watch it they may have an idea

Google it.

A bunch of different causes came up for the Pentastar engine misfiring. Seems to be a bit known for that engine family unfortunately.

Been there , done that.

Then they had the gall to try and charge me for diagnosis time on a warranty covered component.
Nope. Not having that. I had to threaten to contact corporate and the DMV.
They waved the diagnostic fee after I said that.

So you bought the car brand with pretty much the worst reliability out there? (Stellantis) See I pinpointed the problem and I'm not even a mechanic. A little sarcasm there so don't get upset.

It seems all newer cars have a lot of issues especially anything made in the last few years.
Seriously good luck with the repair I hope they figure it out.

its not a diesel. when your accelerating and shift from 2nd to third shift at a higher rpm so the tach drops to 17-1800 rpm.

For the 3.6L Pentastar V6, the most efficient RPM depends on what you are doing, but the engine's overall "sweet spot" is 1,800 to 2,500 RPM. In this range, you get the best balance of low-end torque for smooth driving and minimal fuel consumption.

If bought with 7000 miles and it was already doing it, wasn’t it still under warranty?

So let me get this straight…….you’re not a mechanic and you bought a jeep?
The only people I know that buy jeeps are mechanics or jeep gurus who already are mechanics with a parts graveyard behind the shed……lol

Why is it that whatever vehicle is being discussed someone always says the problem is they are all junk? Modern engines are not the high torque at low rpm long stroke chevy straight 6 in the pickup you learned to drive a manual in. Sounds like to me you are lugging the engine.

This pretty much fits the description of the jeep owners I know. Some of them are into rubber duckies too. LOL

Not lugging the engine. Been driving standards for 55 years. Using regular gas like required. Yes, it is still under factory warranty.

I'm afraid its because its true. Too much complexity, too many electronic controls.

I wasn't trying to offend you or suggest you were a poor driver. Just that it won't cost much to try shifting at a slightly higher RPM.
