Haven’t posted many pics lately but here are a few ducks from the last couple weeks in the marsh.
A few Blue-wings and Spoonies and one guy who’s not sure what he is…Cinnamon x Blue-wing cross.
Hope you enjoy.

So how are the South Dakota nesting grounds looking?
Seems like North Dakota and Canada has been getting lots of rain? At least every time I look at the radar it’s raining up there.
Major flooding on this end of the flyway.

My guess is SD will be similar to this survey in ND. Very little winter snow led to no runoff to fill up mini potholes. We have been getting good amounts of rain, but it doesn’t do as good for water levels as winter snow.

Nice pics. Last photo of the drake bluewing... Wonder if that patch of brown on his white crescent is early stages of molt or if it's just a weird color pattern. Or maybe a cinnamon hybrid ??

Yes it’s a Blue-wing x Cinnamon Teal hybrid
Actually see more of those here then I see true Cinnamons.

Outstanding Shots Tray !

Are you using one of the mirrorless cameras with reactive eye tracking, or are you using predictive tracking found on the newer cameras?

Is the AF able to stay on the eye of small fast targets like teal at mid-range distances, or is it just close shots?

I heard the predictive AF tracking is quite an improvement as far as smaller subjects, or when the eye is behind an object that cannot be detected by the camera.

I don’t have the ability to track eyes with my camera, that technology came out after I bought my camera. I don’t know a lot about it but do believe a guy has to be fairly close to get it to engage. I hope that someday I have the chance to find out as I think the new mirrorless cameras would make it a lot of fun.
