Is there any "normal" distance from a soffit/roof return opening to a females' nest? I have removed several kits this year and it appears they are pretty random. Thanks. Have a nice day.

I’ve never found them directly inside the hole. Usually well away from it.

So far, that has been the case. Across the attic. Path is easy to see with blown in insulation.

Usually in one of the corner soffits, and more often than not, the tightest spot away from entrance. All depends on the house they pick.

As long as "she" is caught alive, you have options. I've released quite a few sows on site when I couldn't reach the pups, most of those felt threatened enough to move the litter that night. I make sure she is not welcome by rolling the cage, yelling and shaking her, then chase her off the property as fast as I can. A trail or cell cam set up watching the entrance will confirm that she moved them.
I had one stubborn #$%&@! That refused to leave. Moved her litter within the house 3x. I even set up a shock system to zap her every time in or out. Finally caught her a second time with a 160 and was able to reach her five pups.
