Not that its going to do any good but suck it up coonman. Do what your told and listen to the Drs, nurses, and physcial therapists. This isn't their first rodeo, its yours. They don't care about your whining boo hooing and belly aching around. Reading this I'm afraid of you getting infection, not realizing it, and hesitating going back to get it looked at. Get your butt up and put in the work you are supposed to. Follow up like you are supposed to. If you don't and it goes badly its your own fault, no one elses. You are out and already admit that theres no pain for gosh sake. Have you been icing it for the swelling? Are you doing what they told you to do as far as ice and working it out?

Go read trapperkecks post about his buddy that had a stroke. I guarantee he'd trade places with you. He's got a harder road ahead than you and more uncertain.

You better do what the doc told you or you could lose the leg.
If you get an infection and you dont go in to the hospital they may amputate.

But then the knee wouldn't hurt again.

Seriously Dave, listen to the doctor and do what he says. This surgery could be a great thing or a horrible thing, depending on how you take care of yourself. I've seen folks ignore the doctor and end up with less mobility, I'd hate to see that happen to you.

Sounds like you're doing as good as can be expected coonman. Hope you get back to 100% as soon as possible.

Good to hear you are doing well, Dave. Keep it up.
Like body count said, maybe we'll see you in Charles City in September.

Why not get out, Just do it!!! Use a walker or a cane. I was with a walker for a few weeks, then a cane. I was discharged after 2 months of PT, and the PT person told me to keep doing what I am doing and that I was where most people are after 6 months. If I were you keep walking, keep stretching and bending it. Trust me, I know it hurts, but its worth it. I can run up and down the stairs now and I am at almost 4 months. still lots of swelling and a lot of clicking in the knee, but I was told that is normal.

I remember the fist time I could actually sit on a toilet and bend the knee. LOL. Keep moving it all the time, As you can see from everyone's comments, its tough in the beginning. but you will get there.

Ice it a lot, follow the doctors orders and push through it. Focus on the positive rather than the negative. If you do what they tell you, it WILL get better. Focus on that and start planning a Fall coon line.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I went to my 4 week post surgery check up today. My PT has my range of motion improving. I still have swelling in the knee joint but they prescribed a steroid to
reduce the swelling. I still have some pain but it’s getting better. Like everyone has said ice is your friend use it. Exercise will hurt but your knee will actually hurt less afterwards.
I know l thought they were just lying to me too, but it’s true!
Just don’t overdo the exercise, you will pay the price in swelling and setbacks in mobility. Ice immediately before and after pt. And take your pain meds 20-30 minutes before pt or it may have no relief during hard pt sessions.
You got one shot to do this right to improve your life. I’m doing mine with the goal on setting beaver and coyote traps when the season opens and not be in constant pain and being able to move around like l did 30 years ago. Hang in there buddy, you can do this.
We are all pulling for you.
