I think it is a find idea for a holiday , a group of US service men took it on themselves to go and bring the news of the end of the war to their country men and set them free. seems fine to me.

I will be celebrating about as much as presidents day , Columbus day , flag day , arbor day , in that I will look at the calendar say oh it's Juneteenth might read a little about it and then go to work.

Texas left the US in 1861. In 1865, Texas wasn't even a US State. It didn't officially rejoin the US until 1870. It seems stupid to make a Federal holiday for an event that didn't even happen in the US.

The whole point of the holiday is to keep an old wound open to trick blacks into voting for the democrats, who destroyed their families, work ethic and futures, to farm them for votes.
