Thanks Boco it is quite nice here. I would recommend a vacation here the crowds are not bad during the low season. This is kind of a small fishing town squid fishing and barramundi they call sea bass here.

They grow a lot of fruit here commercially like pineapple, banana and durin many other fruits as well.
And no they call me Alaskan here

Have a cousin over in Ireland that travels all over the world,
He and his wife enjoyed Thailand very much.

lol ….Actually I am in better shape here than I was in Alaska since I don’t have four feet of snow to try and walk through now.

I meet alot of people/ expats from all over the world here and many of those are Canadians fleeing the cold many from Europe as well.

I have spent a lot of time in the Philippines and here in south central Thailand and a couple trips to Burma.

I always ask other worldly travelers where is the best place to retire. They all say this place here, Hua Hin Thailand.

Seems a lot of guys here are missing the point. Its not some other country is better then the US they are not. Its other places are good enough to live at a much more affordable price. At least thats how I take it I may well be incorrect. But you can get by in the is on 4k a month ss and savings but thats just geting buy. In other countries you may be able to live on that like you would if you had 8 k living in the US. If you can live with the trade offs it could be a good deal. Im sure its not for everyone. And can be great for others.

Exactly right. It's about a better quality of life. One can live on a lot less money and have more personal freedom. It's nothing negative about America.

I knew some Filipino guys. Philippines are lots of islands. There was a boss guy and his two workers. The boss guy retired after working in Ohio for 25 years and moved back. He said it was like multiplying your money by 3. At the time which was probably ten years ago he said he was going to draw about 30-50k a year out of retirement which would make him decently wealthy over there. He made his point by saying that on that 30k he would have a descent upper end house and a daily housekeeper / maid living the good life. His two workers will go back after they have saved up their money I am sure.

I worked with those guys for 20 years and I left that company. Ran into one of the worker dudes on an airplane in another city once. He had the seat right beside me. But anyway.

I haven't seen whats his face in awhile on here. He lived in the Philippines for awhile and is raising his boy in Ohio now.

That's what a lot of these Guatemalans do, live cheap, work hard, save money and go back and buy their village....lol...Except for the brother of a guy I know....moved back with a pile of money and was murdered within the week....

Short retirement.

At least he didn't outlive his savings.
