Plastic radiator reservoir has a crack. Truck is not over heating but I have to add antifreeze pretty regular. Got 4 gallons in the cab. Going to try and limp it through another day while waiting on a new radiator. Surly making radiators out of aluminum and plastic is not done deliberately so that you must replace them, rather than just soldering them like you could with copper radiators?

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Passenger truck ?? Or big rig ??

Had to put one in my new GMC 2500 at 7 years old.

Not happy.

The plastic and aluminum can't hack the heating up and cooling

Down cycle too many times ...like the old copper

Good luck if you run low I'd hate to think what a gallon costs at a truck stop

I had that same exact thing happen . It’s like they know exactly where to put the only plastic piece to keep it from being fixable

My S-10 always seemed like it smelled of antifreeze in the cab, still maybe does. Last week I blew a full length crack in the side of the tank and two days ago the new radiator was installed at $417. The week before, they put in a new thermostat and new radiator cap….which all helped expose the problem. This is a “99” S-10. We’ll see what happens next.

To be fair, he has the bucket seat bolted in the box so he has leg room.

I have nothing clever to put here.

It’s tight for sure…saving grace is that truck is agile and can go about anywhere…it’s the truck that conquered SD…

Planned obsolescence, almost criminal fraud imo.

We find unique ways to break stuff.
Saw one fail from weed seeds and chaff.
Another plugged with mayflies.
That crick road has no name. grin

Used to be, an over pressure would
split a hose and duct tape saved you a tow.
Now we have technology and
engineering.

A lot of the guys
think antifreeze/coolant is good for ever.

That stuff is amazing. I had a small leak in a gas tank on an old 83 Dodge. Patched it with JB Weld. That was years ago. Still doesn't leak.

Got a photo from a speeding camera in the mail. I immediately sent it back - way too expensive and really poor quality.

I have Yamaha 70hp two stroke outboard that the oil pump came apart on, and punched a hole out of the crank case the size of a 50 cent piece. I carefully cleaned all the aluminum and glued the punched out piece back in place with MarineTex; similar to JB Weld. That was 15 years ago, still holding up.
