I'm new at this. I bought a Chinese leather sewing machine. Still can't get it to run right. But I can hand stitch I think. Anyway I need to know what the tool used to cut the groove for "hiding?" the stich is called and where to buy one. Also used when trying to fold the leather as in a knife sheath.

Look on YouTube they have multiple videos on setting up those machines, the only bad thing about them is the directions on how to use them I have one also and it works just fine, I use it more for heavy canvas then leather

You can get one of those Grover’s from Tandies or from eBay,Amazon ect

Stitching Grover won't help much with folding leather, it just gives you a way to the thread lower than the face of your sheath.
For folding you can skive the leather or wet mold it
