Im getting ready to build drowning cables and was curious how you guys go about attaching them i was thinking small quick links but looking at them on fandt they show a working limit of 220 lbs is that going to be enough when otter and beaver are a possibility?

I used to use L type drowners now I just use crunch proof type swivels as drowners with cable. I use the j-hook attached to the trap chain at desired length.

I have my big beaver foot holds for beaver set up that way but wanted to have the ability to take these traps off if I wanted to

The 1/8" quick links will hold any beaver and every otter. Snug them good with pliers.....NOT just finger tight.

I am like swamp wolf. If I want to remove the trap I use 1\8 quick links. Most of my cable downers are stored loosely wrapped around a few of my traps, only removed when the cable is shot.
