Former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan died from complications of Parkinson’s Disease, his wife said Monday. He was 100.

In his 19-year tenure as the central bank’s leader, Greenspan captained the Fed through the 1987 “Black Monday” market crash, two recessions, the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and the dot-com boom and bust. The so-called “Maestro” famously shocked markets in 1996 with a warning of investors’ “irrational exuberance,” but the bubble didn’t burst until five years later.

Greenspan was appointed Fed chairman in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan and held the position — through busts and booms — until retiring in 2006. His tenure was the second longest, four months short of that of William McChesney Martin, who presided over the central bank from 1951 to 1970.

The Fed in a statement Monday morning said it noted Greenspan’s passing “with deep sadness” and said his “contributions to monetary policy and economic thought left a lasting mark on this institution, on the broader field of economics, and on the country.”

It was a planed for can't miss event to watch every time he spoke at my great aunt and uncle's house. I was even more financial illiterate back then than I am now and didnt understand most of what he was talking about. I wish I knew what question to have asked them back then I could have been light years ahead. But I was just a dumb kid.

Well don't feel like the Lone Ranger PF.

Greenspan's main contribution was what has become known as "Fed-speak".
He used 25 words, that no one understood, where two or three words would have been plenty.

It was designed to confuse and be vague so no one could be said to have inside information. I have to wonder if he even knew what he meant most of the time.

I think Kevin Warsh is moving back towards that position of vagueness, but doing so by reducing communication, rather than using a lot of words to say nothing.

He didn’t bow to political pressure. Wonder how long he would have lasted today.

Of all the horrible things the government has done over the past 200 years, the federal reserve act is by far the worst.

The federal reserve is nothing more than the government branch of the big banks

I think white covered this subject before, but I believe it was either the free masons or the illuminati.
