I was wondering if anyone here traps for live market?

I'm thinking of getting into it and don't really know how and was just wondering if anyone had any tips.

Years ago a fellow trapper opened up his live market to me as a new trapper. Sold my first 4 coyotes live made many times what put up fur was bringing. But crossing stat lines with them laws changed or just Crack down ended the market here for me years ago.

If you have a market in your state I would definitely encourage you pursue it.

First thing you need is a Breeders License. That allows you to hold and transport a coyote in State only. Records have to be kept and turned in at the end of the year.You need to have a Buyer and a way to transport. You need to have good feet on a coyote in order for him to sell. And you need to catch coyotes.Thats about it here

Not sure where you are at. You need to ask around if there are any hound hunter’s in your area. And see if they have a local pen close to you.

If i had a good market for coyotes I wouldn't post it on the internet for several reasons

Here in Georgia a hound training enclosure (fox or coyote pen) is required to be permitted annually by the state.

If that is the case in Louisiana, contact your wildlife resources/DNR agency and request a list of the permitted pens. Phone numbers for the permitted individuals that own/manage the pens will likely be listed.

Start calling the pens that are near you.......

Call crystal brothers out of the lafayette ldwf office she should have a list of buyers if I’m not mistaken. While you have her on the phone ask any questions about trapping rules you have. She is the lafayette office contact for cites tags as well
