This was the last one I caught. In a #3 Bridger two coiled softcatch of all things. Wasn’t a target specie so had to be released.

This was my first thought, not gonna lie I thought about the window fully down but figured there was a reason everyone keeps the window halfway up

Just with a catch pole! If I’m by myself I render them unconscious before removing the trap. There was another set of hands available on this one so I just waited until I had it calmed down and then released the foot.

It's releasing the foot that's the tricky part. laugh

Anyone can legally harvest cougars in Utah as long as they have a valid Utah Trapping license, or Hunting license or Combination (hunting and fishing) license. There is no limit, but each cat must be taken to a Utah Division of Wildlife Resources office within 48 hours where a tooth is removed for aging and a permanent seal is attached to the pelt. To trap in Utah you must obtain a trapper registration number and have that number stamped in or securely attached to the trap.

There is no bounty offered by the state but the Wild Sheep Foundation of Utah is offering $1500 for proof of any cougar killed on one of Utah's wild sheep management units. Proof is a photo or video where the couga was taken with location services turned on so verification can be made.

Yep, and the tricky part goes your way. Hounds and treeing them is what I'm familiar with in Montana.
