Stay away from Duke. You’re in Canada, no need to stoop to that level. Americans pick the cheap dukes because Belisles are super expensive there. Here, it’s the same price to buy quality gear. Beaver footholds? TS85 is pretty common up here. Bodygrips, I use Belisles for everything, you won’t regret it. Check out Dam Beavers site, Duke 330s are the same price as Belisles. Gotta be on meth for a Canadian to buy Dukes…..lol. I really like the Belisle Classics over the SuperXs. But, both are great traps. What is the difference? I am not sure I have ever seen a classic?

In the US, belisle's are about to get silly expensive. I just looked on F&T and Bs are only $1.50 more than Dukes. I thought the difference was a lot more. Unless it’s older stock that’s been in the US before this quagmire began?

Back before Duke copied the Belisle there was a substantial price difference between the 2 traps and a guy needed to make a decision. Now with the duke super mag, the price difference between the 2 is negligible and the Belisle is an easy decision.
Agree 100%. It was an easy decision even before, for me. I sold my entire collection of mis-matched traps of all sizes about 15 years ago and replaced all with Belisle traps, (body grips, of course). And after experimenting with various brands of footholds, I standardized those, as well. I had little use for small footholds on my line in coastal Alaska, and mostly used Belisle 280s for otter, but when I needed a foothold for beaver, the TS-85 was the answer. I got rid of a bunch of other beaver traps of various brands and never regretted it.
Just doing what I want now.

Word I'm hear is the US dealers are still selling stock that was procured before the tariffs. Sounds like they will be going to $500 a dozen 330s

do the new bridgers have better triggers than the older ones? I think you’ll be happy so far. I think Dam Beaver still has some used Z Trap DPs, I love those things. Are you talking bigger single spring 160s, 180s etc? Keep in mind that we gotta use traps on the certified list from FIC. https://fur.ca/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/CertifiedTrapsList_FIC_June-15-2026-_EN-1.pdfHere’s an ID sheet…. https://fur.ca/wp-content/uploads/2...LIVECAPTUREtraps_MARCH2026_FINAL-ENG.pdfFor my Belisle 330s, I twisted the triggers together on all mine that are exclusively for beaver. I can still set the trigger off to the side and give em a 90 bend to submerge it. The triggers are weak on the Belisles but it’s not a big deal. I’ve used a broken twig as a trigger while in the bush. A Leatherman is always on me somewhere. Any kind of stiff wire works, easy fix.
