Anyone else feel like yard eggs taste way better then store bought ? Bought some yesterday because the dog found out she like eggs and ate them all before I could collect and man .. I try not to be picked but then store bought ones just arrived as good

It's still an egg, fed by mostly the same type feed...outdoor hens yolks are usually more orange due to the greens and bugs they get as a supplement, and of course they're fresher but, I don't find a big enough difference to think about it....

Raised chickens for years. Love grass-fed eggs. my Bride did as well......until she cracked one into a bowl and a 2/3 grown chick was in it! She was done with home grown the rest of her life. She was a farm girl too.

That is why eggs are "candled"......even commercial eggs. Way to avoid that is to not keep a rooster. Hens get along just fine without that pimp daddy running around abusing them.

Yes, my free range eggs are much better in not only tast and flavor but nutrition. Joel Salatin sent bot some of his eggs and pastured chickens off for nutritional analysis along with a chicken and eggs bought at a local supermarket and published the results in one of his book and the difference was not small.

I cant stand eating eggs when out a restaurants they are so bland and flavorless.

Farmer across the road sells eggs for $5/Doz. Kwik Trip is at 99cents/Doz. Farmers are a little bigger but I go to Kwik Trip. They look a little different but taste the same to me.

I thought the same thing an egg is an egg. Untill i have only eaten ours for a few years and the hens were not laying in the winter and wife bought some from the store. They were terrible.

Its like carrots and celery or tomatoes having more flavor when we grow them. When my wife wants in the door with carrots out of the garden I can smell them from the living room when she is in the kitchen. The flavor is incredibly more strong than store bought as well. The celery is so strong it has to be put in soup so its not over powering. I think most people know the difference between a sun ripened heirloom tomato compared to one grown for the. store

Bunch of folks here sell their eggs for 5 - 8$ per doz....and they just feed Tractor supply feed and the chickens are on dirt....unless the chickens are on actual grass pastures there's no difference except the price, even then, it's still an egg...

I prefer yard eggs when available, but eggs are to me one thing that has more consistancy in quality and taste then many other food items.

I like the bright orange yokes with yard birds. The green grass and bugs give you the good taste.

Marigold flowers added to chicken feed will make the yolk nice and orange.

there's definitely a difference. Even if they are just on dirt, they eat worms and bugs, extra protein.

True. We would throw all the fish scraps, squirrel and rabbit scraps to the chickens and had more flaverable eggs.

I eat alot of both and from a true taste perspective i in no way can tell the difference. And I bet in a blind taste test the general results would say the same thing. I hoped id be able to tell a difference because for the most part the beef we raise is much superior to what you can buy in the store but with eggs I just cant truly taste a difference. As someone else pointed out its primarily the salt, pepper, cheese or other seasoning that makes eggs really hit the taste buds.
