Looking for a decent hotel, preferably with a pool. Comfort Inn is booked. I
Closestni found is in La Plata, but would like to be closer to fair grounds.

It's probably best to call each one to check availabilty.

Trivago shows slim pickings for hotel availability during the convention depending on the dates you're looking at. Now that may be because of group room blocks or they may actually be full. It shows only Travelier Motel has a few rooms available for the entire convention, Thursday night through Sunday morning.

If nothing else, Kirksville is 30 min north and Moberly 30 min south. Both have several motels. If all else fails, Columbia is 60 min south. Columbia has thousands of hotel rooms.

Brookfield is 28 miles west.
Couple hotels there. I think the best western has a pool.

I think it is probably a good idea to book a room as soon as possible. I went with the super 8 as the host hotel was booked. Does anyone have a favorite eatery there in town that has a good American food menu? Thanks in advance.

The Pear Tree in Macon is one of best upscale restaurants anywhere in rural MO. Also one of the more expensive.

The last time we stayed in Macon, we ate several times at The Apple Basket. I've also heard great reports on the food at the big sale barn in town.

The Pear Tree does have very good food. It is a bit spendy though.
My wife's family lives in Macon, so we always eat here

For those staying at Moberly, be sure to go to Lula's Steakhouse.
It's my choice of the 2. Prices are better and portions are big, if you leave there not totally stuffed it's your fault.
Be there when they open or you will have an hour wait to get a table.
The food is worth the wait
THEY ARE CASH ONLY.

Hopefully I can make it to both places !
