Beaver peeler. Why would you not wear gloves? I skinned thousands of critters back in the day without them but at this day and age just makes sense. Plus Much easier to get your fingernails clean.

So the proper term for transmission is fecal/oral. Meaning you ingest it from food or hands with crap on them.

Wear gloves and wash your hands.

Like Boco said, gloves skinning and a little spritz of bleach water……..helps with the smell if you got a real territorial male hanging in the garage too.
And like Tats said……every wild animal I eat gets the liver inspection.
