They taste very good. I bleed them as soon as they get in the boat and put them on ice. Anything bigger than 2.5 pounds need to be cut into fish sticks. The thick filets won't cook all the way through which gives them that mushy feel. Any fish kept in 80 plus degree live well will taste bad. It's how the fish is cared for right after its caught imho.

" I bleed them as soon as they get in the boat and put them on ice". Exactly, any summer time fish need a immediate ice bath and kept there till cleaned and cooked , makes a world of difference

We like them out of cold water.

Usually we have them grilled.

The bag of filets I fried up last night had both crappie and bass. By the size of the bass filets I would say they were spotted bass. I thought they tasted just fine.

If the walleyes aren't biting but you are catching Large Mouth Bass,....................release the bass and go home and eat chicken.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I prefer smallmouth but we enjoy a lot of largemouth twice too.

… no idea what made you think that …. I was under the impression all them Iowa boys were about was eating cob on corn the long way… and dressing up in leatards and wrastlin one another while some dude watched and decided a winner

… you got me confused… my people come from TEXAS .. Arkansas… and Mississippi since the beginning

… yeah … don’t say anything like that again… Iowa about as gay as Canada from what I’ve seen in here

Wont turn my nose up at it but there are much better eating fish out there. Bass is rather low on my list of fish to eat and even lower on fun to catch.

A good topwater bite on a clear morning sunrise is about as good as it gets but beating the water for something I'm just going to toss back gets old fast.

Yes, we eat them. Especially when we catch them in the winter through the ice.

We eat plenty. I don't understand those that eat walleye and not bass. They taste the same.

Everyone I've tried tasted like mud, yet rainbows out of the same lake taste fine.

There must be a difference in flavor in northern vs southern LM Bass.

Down here.....they're delicious....almost a delicacy.

I do them just like in those pics.

Our fish must taste different or something. I accidentally caught a Bass today in 19 feet fishing walleyes. I had to wash my hands 3 times to get the stink off them.

Caught and eat them all my life and I've never handled one that was extremely "fishy or muddy".

Matter of fact.....here they are as clean and mild as crappie (speckled perch.)

I will add that I've had fresh, fried walleye only once....at a cafe on Lake Erie in Ohio. It was very good.
