My land was property of the Missouri River…all of it. It wasn’t till it was channeled that it became my families dirt. Yes sir, I do use gps for spraying, planting, ect. We were also growing 250 bushel corn in the 80’s well before all of that. I’m not hating or making anything personal. I’m just saying, until you’ve personally had land taken, or had AI real estate brokers knocking on your door, you have no experience. You’re welcome to your own thoughts and ideas, that’s what makes America great. I genuinely hope you get to personally reap the benefits of AI development and all that comes with it

If everyone is to benefit from it, why should it come at the cost of the private landowners owners? Why not take the vast amounts of public land and blm that everyone owns and use it? That way it’s taking a little from everyone in order to give back to everyone?

IMO..... seizing land for data centers by eminent domain.... and willingly selling land for data centers to be built on....... are night and day issues!

That’s the problem, if I don’t want to sell my land for data centers and my neighbors do; that’s what happens. When the data center needs a new water treatment facility or a new electrical substation, they take my land in eminent domain for the greater good of the “public”

To answer your first question with a question......... does it matter? Whether you believe it did or didn't improve things for the good....... it's not going away. I imagine people whose lives' have been saved through technology that otherwise would have died would argue that it's good. But, again, to me that seems like a moot question. It's not going anywhere.

Geez, I gotta answer your second question with a question too. In regards to big business (not talking about government, two very separate issues)....

Why SHOULD businesses of any size "help the working class" without a payout? Do you work for free? I don't. If I work I expect to get paid for it. Actually, as an investor, I feel that big business already spends wayyyy too much capital on "feel good" social and environmental issues instead of directing that capital towards R&D and innovation that would improve profits. Be careful what you ask for..... do you REALLY want big businesses.... that are mostly ran by liberals....... to be throwing cash at social and environmental issues??? Because I sure as heck do NOT.

To be clear.... I do NOT think that building data centers is a valid use of eminent domain. I am against eminent domain in all but an extreme few emergency cases....... building data centers is not that...

If y'all are concerned with water usage for data centers and you think the rest of the country is as concerned as you are, you should buy stock in Comfort Systems (FIX). They are a leader in closed loop cooling systems for data centers. Fight it all you want, but the entire national defense of our country relies 100% on data centers and AI. Previous posts regarding Chinese influence on negetaive views of data centers and AI are spot on. Unless you want to learn Chinese, you might want to rethink your position.

I'm on a $200/month subscription for AI. I use it non-stop for work. Lately I've been keeping 3 sessions going with AI doing 3 different things. Its hard to say how much my productivity has increased, but it is a multiple. More than 2x, less than 4x.

The AI companies are currently operating at a loss. At some point either the compute necessary for their service will come down (i.e. they'll get the same work done for less CPU cycles), or their prices will go up dramatically, or both. They could 10x the price and I (well, my employer) wouldn't drop it.

AI absolutely will eliminate jobs. All cognitive (thinking) work is threatened by it. But this is where standard of living increases come from. A few hundred years ago 90% of the world population was working directly on the production of food. Then technology took away nearly all of those jobs. The world did not collapse in unemployment, instead people did new things and that's where the standard of living improvements come from.

Same. That sounds to me like about the right standard. I am strongly pro-data center and strongly anti eminent domain for anything related to data centers.

Those data centers will be big targets to blow up when we kick that globalist scum to the curb in the future world/

On a bright note, those same data centers will allow us to disable the drones/missiles before they get there.

This Data Center ruse is just the beginning of SkyNet, but Arnold Scwartzanegger won't be coming back from the future to save us.
Before too long we'll be eating Soylent Green, and after that we'll just be relegated to being living Matrix batteries to power more "Data Centers."
