Cure 'em in the shade and then store them in the garage in a basket or hang them up.

I make sure they are dried well, tops for sure. I then tie group together and hang in our basement or our heated garage. Your way ahead of me. I won't have onions to pull until August and the last group in September or later.

used to hang them in a cool room...a mesh bag works to but harder to see any bad ones.

Braid and hang but southern onions just don't store so use them up is the rule. We get no more than a few weeks to a couple months on onions.

Hang in the cool dry if you have a place that is cool and dry. Lacking that, cut up and freeze. They still work perfectly stir fried or in any other recipe that calls for cooked onions.

We were hanging lots of stuff but it was messy and got in the way. I made these cedar boxes and they have been working well. These are shallots and garlic still from last year. Potatoes we just finished

Dicing up and freezing has become our preferred way. Freeze the cut up pieces spread out on a cookie sheet first, then put in freezer bags. That way they don't clump together, and its easy to grab a handful and put in soup or whatever.

I store mine at Sam's Club. They can grow them and keep them fresh much cheaper and better than I can. blush

My wife puts them in a cast iron frying pan with country fried steak and gravy.

Depends on the onion. Your really sweet varieties, like a Vidalia, they need to be just store them hanging up in a dry basement. My wife braids them and stores them hanging from nails in the floor joists.
