Cell camera sent this picture a little bit ago. What kind of bird is it. Picture taken in NW Minnesota. I’ve never seen one before.

Are they wild or domestic? Doesn’t appear to want anything to do with the wild turkeys.

They regularly try to go wild but never last for long.

Depends where they are I know several places where they are wild and cause trouble as well, a lot like turkeys in the twin cities

But like I said their good eating

There’s an area in SW Oregon that has had reproducing feral peacocks for 20-30 years. They run with the turkeys and are much harder to kill then the turkeys.

My understanding they do well in warm climate urban sites.

My little brother lived there a long time and that’s what he said, some towns their a real pest, the same in California, parts of the southeast I know of several other places that also have problems with feral peacocks, when that’s in the cities your just screwed but out in the countryside most places their fair game and like I said well worth the effort of putting them in the pot

It can be surprising just what can survive given half a chance, when I was a kid we had a flock of wild chickens living not far from where our cabin was, my dad would sometimes take one for the pot, there were still a fair number my last trip up there but that was back in the late 80s and according to my dad they had been there since he bought the place in the late 50s and were already well established then, having been abandoned back during the depression
