You can save yourself the trip if you made Aloo Gobi Mattar at home. Several recipes on Google, most of the ingredients and spices you should be able to get at your grocery store. Online recipe ingredients list asafoetida. Where have I seen that before? lol

I don't believe I ever ate a meatless meal if you can count fish as meat. I doubt I ever will.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Doesn't look good to me. But my tastes tend to run toward if you can't fry it and pour gravy on it, I ain't eating it!

Wife wanted to go to a New Indian restaurant in town over a decade ago so we went. I didn't know what to order so got the sampler platter that had some of many of the menu items.
The platter was huge, I tried it all. Didnt eat much of any of it one bite of each thing. Stopped and got something to eat on the way home. Wife ate whatever she got and some of the stuff i ordered. Only thing I can figure is becuse she was born without a sense of smell her taste buds are off enough she could eat it.
Won't eat at an Indian place again. Kind of glad I dodged having to go with mom to her friends sons wedding today now that I think of it. They are Indian and its 800 people event with a lot of international traveling people to get to it. Seeing the traditional dress and customs would have been cool but I would have had to eat some to be polite and that may have been rough.
Turns out ther is a positive to having MS, it can get you out of things you dont want to go to. On the flip side im missing my wifes step grandpa's birthday and 4th celebration. 6 hrs of riding in the car and the heat dont seem like a good idea

Hosted three Rotary Club exchange members from India in the 80s. They enjoyed cooking for me. Every meal featured rice, yogurt, and onions. They ate with their hands, but somehow did not soil their hands. I recall they cupped the rice in their fingers and shoved it into their mouths with their thumbs. When they drank from a glass, the glass never touched their mouths.
At the grocery store, they picked up several bags of rice to look at the grains. They wanted a Jack fruit but we could never find one. They made the bread from scratch. I don’t recall eating any meat that week. …. Hope they went back before droppin anchor babies
