Hi all, Iv been trying to find a wool shirt that won’t break the bank but is quality. Looking for a button down style to wear while on the line in cooler weather. A coat is just to bulky and cumbersome when making sets Any input is greatly appreciated!

I got a Pendleton button up at the Salvation Army Store many years ago. If you have one of those or a Goodwill Store nearby it's always worth a look.

Best wool shirt I had was a New Zealand army surplus, not too light, not too heavy or bulky....sadly grew out of it, lol
Mil surplus might still be an option...

LLBEAN makes a nice one and Johnson Woolen Mills, both in tall sizes. For as load they last cost should not be an issue.

I like my Johnson Woolen Mills long tail flannel. Its a little pricey, but its US made. Ive gotten lots of great sweaters and flannels from thrift stores over the years.

Some of the best gear I’ve found for Pennie’s on the dollar are at these thrift stores. It’s nice having a wife that’s constantly hitting these stores and garage sales. That’s how I got that old 1967 bottle of HBC whiskey in a beaver bottle…..lol

My favorite shirt for layering is a Woolrich Henley… found it at a second hand store . Like new for just a couple dollars. Been wearing it for around 12 years or better now.

If buying new...... consider Filson. They support trapping and ran a pro-trapping commercial last year!
