I get that you southern guys call crappie white perch. Crappie have lots of colloquial names.

But real white perch are an actual specie of fish in the bass family (Moronidae). They are not the perch family (Percidae). And not in the crappie family (Centrarchidae) either.

Yes ma'am. I'm sure I'll catch heck for it, but I really enjoy them. I've cooked them for a bunch of people, and nobody has ever been disappointed with them until after I told them what they were.
