Bulldogs, deer flies and mosquitoes are manageable. It's them little "no see em" sand flies that really get to me. They don't care about bug spray, they'll take a chunk out of you and die.

It's the bugs that really ended the lives of these two kids from BC that went on a killing spree. They got lucky (or unlucky) when they barely survived trying to navigate the Nelson in a little duck boat.......lol

I worked a summer job a while back. It was a good ways off the road and I use a military backpack to bring in my gear. I found the bank den, took off my pack and tossed it up on the bank. It landed right on a ground hornet nest. They really got excited and I hand to take an unanticipated swim to get away from them. Bugs, heat and trapping beaver in the summer definitely suck and you need to charge accordingly.
