Someone I sorta know was looking to purchase a remote parcel. By remote they meant no neighbors. No motorized machines. Pretty much no one within ear shot. They were going to live in this area without ANY motorized equipment.
They did find a remote parcel on the upper Nowitna but cost of flying in and supplies was above their means. They had also looked at a property in the middle Kuskokwim but cost was an issue there.
Do any of you think there is anywhere in Alaska that fits this idea?

I find it cost more to live in the bush, than in town.

There are a few places in Southeast that might work.

Just doing what I want now.

Had a young man from our church over for dinner when we lived in Alaska. His wife was from England and had to go home for a family medical issue with a parent. We had him and his identical twin daughters over for dinner. While dad was away working, they were being home schooled by the mom and had the British accent to prove it. He was a lineman and spent a lot of time on the road and away from home.

I asked where he grew up and he said Dry Creek, a little community just off highway 2 between Delta and Tok. One of the little girls piped up in the most contentious British accent you've ever heard, "It's in the middle of nowhere."

So there you go. Dry Creek is where you want to go. It's in the middle of nowhere.

Trail cameras and fresh snow have broke a lot of trapper’s hearts.

A location would not be too difficult to find but the cost and the cost of access is a huge hurdle. The "no motorized" equipment is completely impractical and maybe suicidal.

Non motorized wood cutting sucks. We did it for several years with a two man crosscut when I was a kid. Dad’s old chainsaw turned toes up and milk prices were pretty low so a new chainsaw wasn’t in the budget. My brother and I became very familiar with the misery whip.

I don't know about Alaska, but around here any chunks of private that are way out like you're describing were pretty much always old homesteads. Which means 160 acres plus. Most of the time they are broken up into smaller lots when sold, which means plenty of close neighbors. If not, a large parcel like that is always expensive, any more. I guess there are a few patented mining claims which are much smaller parcels, but usually where there was gold found there are other mining claims all around, so again, neighbors.

A simple Google search of Nowhere Alaska. Will show you, a movie called Nowhere Alaska, and that there are several bridges that go to Nowhere in Alaska. Maybe this will help you. laugh
