There was a show on TV awhile back called, Fatal Attraction. It involved people who were obsessed with exotic animals such as tigers, hippos, etc.

Snakes were high on the list for some people. They had a fascination for snakes. They started out with non-venomous snakes for awhile, but then they liked the thrill of owning something more dangerous.
There was the case of this lady who decided on a black mamba in addition to the King Cobra she had. She had gotten to the point where she actually was starting to believe she had developed a rapport with her snakes. One day they found her dead and a loose black mamba.

There are so many cases of people raising dangerous animals that eventually kill them because they really think they can trust them.

I had a buddy back when we were young and dumb that kept rattlesnakes. He liked to play with them when we were drinking. he was bitten three or four times that I know about. He said doctors told him if continued to get bit he could end up losing body parts.

Not rocket science to milk a rattler, lot of folks been doing it since for ever...

He got taken for a ride alright!
