Hello all,
It has been several years since I have made a post or even been back on this page. Due to life activities, I haven’t been able to pursue as much trapping as I have wanted for the past decade. However, a good friend of mine has brought me back to my senses and in doing so, we set a line together last winter. We targeted every species we could in Indiana, which meant that the bobcat season was the first year to be in season. We had great success, good memories, and a very prosperous future. We had decided that one day, we would like to chase after the marten and fisher at least once, for it is something we have both desired to go after ever since we were kids.

Being we are from Indiana, youtube has been our only real option to explore what is really out there. Maine and New York have been our most positive answer on catching these incredible animals. Granted, there are other states that offer marten and fisher, but we want to be able to catch our fill of them if we get the chance.

I’ve read stories from other trappers long ago about settling in on cabins and running a line back in the early 1900s. But I’m sure that those days are long gone. I guess my question is, what has been a successful state in this furbearers? Do you guys stay in an air bnb, hotel, or camper? What kind of state ground is accessible and allowed to have trapping on?

Thank you all for any participation and advice. Hopefully we can make this dream of ours happen within the next several years!
