11/2 soft catch smear peanut butter 10" off the ground on a corner post, trap 8" back. if they are there, they are easy to trap. Cages set in the open with lure on a cotton ball. They are fragile critters and don't do well in the day light, check those sets early.

Contact KS Fish & Game for information regarding how many where caught in each district last year. That would give you some idea on what areas that will increase your odds of catching one. I have mot caught one yet but it is on my bucket list for KS.

Monster Tom, did not know that about swift fox. Thanks for the suggestion!

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

They will work fine, just check early and a shock spring like the old Northwoods had, help also. they are mostly found along the transition zone between crop land and wild ground.

Just make the nicest coyote set youve ever made.

In all seriousness, really firm up the soil over the trap. Swiftys are voracious diggers/scratchers and if they feel soft soil underfoot its almost a guarantee youll come back to a trap that looks like someone took a leaf blower to it!

Annoying little critters.

I wanted to trap one, I know where there are a bunch of them in Wyoming, and the locals told me they were a varmint like a coyote. Luckily I checked the regs rather than take their word for it. Turns out they are actually protected in Wyoming.

bearcat if you catch one unintentionally the GW will allow you to keep it, you have to report it though.
We have a ton around here too.

I know hi line trappers that say they are a pain, pan cover thefts from what I've seen.
Spent a few days as a shadow, on a trap line up there.
Not as bad as Prairie Dogs, but still a nuisance.

Let me sugar coat this

Thankfully still legal in ks in fur season. Wondering if laminating those 1 s is going to be of benefit ? Super short chain ? A couple links what you people think.
