These suckers have made me angry. I have caught 5 in the last two days in the yard, and they are still making new mounds. I will keep after them, and hopefully get their numbers down to a manageable amount. Before I can mow the grass, I have to go around and spread out the mounds, so I don’t hit them with the mower!
A couple of years ago, we had a cicada invasion, and now it seems like these boring machines have found the buffet. I don’t know if the cicada larvae attract moles, or if it is just a coincidence, but I have declared total war on the destructive little vermin!

Have been at it myself. Harvest total is 5 as well. There are at least two more. Did spread grub killer and they don't seem to be in the places it was spread. Good luck.

Do what turkey time said . We had them bad at our old place . I went to the local feed store and got something in a bag , I don’t remember what it was called but I will figure it out and post it . But man did it work after a few days I started noticing grubs the size of your thumb just laying everywhere never had another mole for a few years . [Linked Image]

Same here. Went through a bucket of mole scram every 30 days plus rotating 6 mole traps. Caught 18 this spring.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I supervise the guys who.manage athletic fields. We use Talparid.looks like aa rubber worm. Kills moles. Has worked well for us but you have to follow the rules about getting the bait into the tunnels.

I will give this a go. With 20 acres of hay field around my yard, trapping will be a futile effort. Although catching them in the act is very satisfying, the granules are the way to go. Thanks so much!

My dad would go out and stomp down all the runs then sit down in his lawn chair and wait till they started tunneling again. Then with his 4 tined pitchfork he would sneak up on them and fork em.

The cicada larvae sure do impact a moles diet and will promote a healty population over time. During the time frame preceeding our 17 years cicada hatch we had a great population of moles. Heavy trapping jobs for several years then things died back significantly. Now we hardly have any around. After heavy trapping and the decreased food suppy, things got back to normal.

I stopped by my local coop supply, and picked up a bag of the Dylox. Now I need to wait until rain is forcast, before applying. Until then, I will keep trapping. When I got hope, I found another active location, so I have at least one more to get.
I actually need at least 2 more bags of the pesticide, but I will wait a bit. The stuff is 70 bucks a bag. But, if it works, thats cheaper than my time, which needs to be used for other things!

I dont put much faith in insecticide use for mole control. That is what the Pest Control folks try to sell to our mole customers before they call us for a trapping program.

They eat lots of other food sources besides grubs and larvae, primarily earth worms in our state. The worms keep a lawn and pasture healthy
