I’ve decided to not leave trapperman,, but I will not be posting as often.
That being said.
I was curious about the Sterling fur company #11 because of the dogless system it has.
When I received it ,, I set it a few times and I noticed that the springs are not very strong and neither is the frame..
It is probably okay for muskrat or mink ,,, but I don’t know if it would do well for holding raccoon,,, maybe on a drowning rig… absolutely no way would I trust it to hold otter.
I guess a guy could put a baseplate on the bottom to keep it from bending,,, but it would be pointless because of the weaker springs in my opinion.
I also ordered one of the newer made Newhouse 11 and I did like it very much… springs are plenty strong and the frame is much thicker and stronger.

I’ve never owned any of the newer double longs ,, all
Of the ones I own are at least 40 plus years old or converted #1 longs.
I know the sleepy creek are pretty hard to find,,
My next curiosity is to look at the Bridger 11 and duke 11.

For you guys that own the aforementioned traps.. what is your opinion on them??

Foxkidd44 I haven’t tried the sterling #11 but I will say most other #11s I’ve used over the years are tenacious hold little traps. I have literally caught everything possible here in my area in #11s and they were waiting for me when I got there. It’s a great coon trap.
I had old style sleepy creeks in 90s and victors prior to that for many, many years on my coon line. Wet and dry sets alike. I had so many surprises waiting for me when I checked sets it was a great testimony to that model.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

The Bridger #11s that were made in the mid-late 90s were stout SOBs. They were my go to coon trap for a number of seasons. I can't speak to current production.

Cumberland's had Blake & Lamb 11s listed on their website a few weeks ago.
