The problem with definitions is sometimes they tend to use big words. Maybe an example would help.

Let me think of a hypothetical example...

If someone was banned from a forum, then they started posting under a new account, while pretending to be a different person (because they're banned), it would be ironic for them to use this new account to post about the site being better off without their old account. The irony here is two fold. First, the person is criticizing themself, which is ironic. But the deeper irony is that they are posting a celebration of their own departure when in fact they they have not departed.

Does this example help at all?

Would it be ironic for someone to have been a member of his forum for at last a couple years, and yet to still believe that the owner and administrators of the site would be so ineffectual as to allow such treachery as you have described to occur?

No, I don't think irony is quite the right word.....

That Savell must be one sneaky son of a gun to fly under the radar for that long.......
