States have been managing them just not allowed to hunt them. Wyoming has been forced to take over the bears management without being able to conduct hunts based on recovery several years ago.
Hope this goes through but there will be massive push back by some conservation groups.

That’s not a baby step, that’s a huge jump forward. The twisted “harm” definition created by the animal rights whackos was a seriously harmful way to use the ESA to ruin people’s livelihoods under the guise of protecting certain species. Amen!

Regulated hunts are the only real management tool so without hunting you're not really managing. Counting bears and tracking bears is monitoring not managing.

Would be a good money maker for the dept with a trophy fee.. get those big cub killers out of circulation, lol,

In Mo, if you apply for a Bear or Elk permit, you have to pay the fees up front, with NO refunds if not chosen. Don't know the exact numbers but only a doz winners out of many thousand app's.
