shortly after posting , my oldest calls me
tire sensor light came on , and she was at the air pump and made sure all tires were up to 35psi

one had been a little low.

I bet that has not been checked in a long time because I didn't check it at the oil change that turned into a power steering pump.

I asked if she checked the oil recently , uhh she would do that right now , well the cap was hot and she dropped it and it didn't hit the ground

calmly say well there are some frame cross members you need to look on because you don't want to drive with the oil cap off .

it took a few minutes it felt like a little short of eternity, but she did finally see it with the cell phone flashlight

so note to self , she needs a better flashlight , next gift giving reason buy them a flash light.

Wolfie, ain't witchcraft, them cars are running on borrowed time. My brother had a girlfriend and when she was asked about when was the last time she'd added oil to her older car she just said all oil did was make it smoke bad so she weren't puttin' no more oil in there.

Yep get in and go. If it don't start its my job to get it going and many times I drive the vehicle she uses all the time and i am lucky if there is enough gas to make it to town.

Not hard to figure out how they keep cars running considering no oil , tires, coolant on their brooms

I had my wife trained or she had me trained it was something like that.
when she was running low on fuel after work she would call me and tell me to meet her outside, I knew that meant she was low on gas so I go out hop in and she drive us down to the station about a mile I fill it up go in and get any groceries we might have needed and drive home.

good time to chat and no emergency low fuel

Its easier to smash an egg with a sledge hammer and glue it all back together with contents intact than figure out a female thought process. Best to just enjoy them and remain in the dark.

My bride a was a dispatcher for 160 cow trucks. She fix and diagnose pretty much everything on a vehicle. Those guys called her about the craziest things in the middle of the night.

This is all a matter of education, to me. Boys don't grow up automatically knowing how to build an engine . Men and women are taught , and later, according to their interests , which society, or traditions also can play a role.

My father , being a vet , pilot, master mechanic and builder ,taught me early on to always be keen for any changes of sounds or "feel" to an engine . Teaching me to fly played a huge role in keeping my trucks well maintained . I hear something off, even a wee bit, I look into it. He would tell me that I was more sensitive to sound, pitch and feel than most guys he flew with. All systems of operations are dutifully cared for right on time . I watch gauges in my truck like a hawk. I fuel up at half tank, always.

Mechanics are worth their weight in gold to me, and I do my part to try and make their time spent as easy as possible.

As far as being on time, for me, merely showing up "on time",is late . Anyone who has experienced me picking them up at an airport can well testify how early I am , an hour at least, waiting right in front of baggage claim exits. I am early for all appointments . My father also had the countenance of being early instilled , from his service in the Navy. Our friends who were vets also viewed timing in similar fashion.

Sometimes the spark of interest in learning something outside of their realm can be accomplished with simply asking them to help you , Wolfie . Like you did with your lady's interest in firearms !

My motto for life...."it doesn't hurt to ask."

Its definitely witchcraft. Around here, it wasn't that long ago that they were bound and thrown in the creek. If they sunk and drowned, they weren't witches. If they floated, they were witches and then burned at the stake.
It went out of favor after a short period of time once there weren't many women left. The men of that time period had to go back to suffering just like the rest of us do.

We moved into a condo association lasst fall. My wife has a lot of limitations with two knee surgeries and other issues. There are 23 units in this association of which 8 are owned by widows or single females and at least 2 the women do all the driving as their husbands are quite disabled. Not one of them that I know of change oil, tires or do brake jobs etc, but everyone I talked with have a good maintenance program with a reliable auto mechanic firms and they follow their guidelines. So this idea that women don't know how to care for a vehicle may be what you see or think is true of most if not all is not something I see on a regular basis. There are several widows in our church also and through discussions I don't see what many of you are refering to. You don't have to do the work, you just need to find a way to get the work done and on time.

That is my wifes car care plan. Leave it up to me. I suppose if I tip over first it will be my sons turn.
