Id agree. A good lure is a good lure. It should have good attraction year around. Not just when the theres a lot of pups running lose or when its so cold they need every calorie to survive.

As a whole I think skunk is overrated for coyotes, it has its place no doubt but you can sell a lot of lure just by making it super skunky and nothing beyond that. Skunk by itself doesn't have a huge amount of attraction to coyotes especially up close. I think it probably does reach out quite aways but coyotes sense of smell is so much different than ours its really hard to say. I know i can smell a well made skunky lure farther away from a set than most other lures. I know in high pressured areas skunk is one of the first smells coyotes get wise to.
