over the last few years we've had more than one bobcat on our property. This one we're not sure about, it crossed a few cameras this morning. Any ideas if a its male or female?

He just crossed the camera again about 3 minutes ago (which is about 7 hours after the prior sighting). In the past we'd typically see them crossing one or more cameras in a narrow range of time, then be gone a while. At least a day, maybe week or few weeks..

Young tom as evidenced by his scent marking, but hasn't gotten a blocky head yet.

I am thinking it may just have rained over night and he is out remarking his territory. It is a very typical behavior of most predators after a good rain. They casually stroll along familiar routes to restablish their prescence in their range and to advertise so to speak.

Selecting favorite or appropriate objects to mark as they move on their way. There is very little wasted time at this time of the year. Just making his rounds doing what he does to keep in the loop.

A very good example of territorial marking and the role it plays in a predators daily routine. Generally this behavior is more prominent following a storm or heavy rain fall. They understand that rain will dilute and wash away much of their scent from previously marked areas.

They have to keep a presence in their range. You snooze you lose.

Not Bob here, but I will take a shot - it sure looks to me like you can see the cat's testicles as it walks away - a clear indication of a male - at least that used to be the case. :-))

There was a slight sprinkle a day or two before, but not enough to register on the rain gauage. 8 days before we got 0.31 inches.

The camera that is moving a Reolink POE (power over ethernet) Trackmix model. It has two 4k lenses. One is wide angle the other is zoomed in. It does pan, titl, and (digital) zoom. (link)

The wide angle stationary is a Reolink POE Duo 3. It has two 4k lenses stitched into one stream so it has a 180 degree viewing angle. If you watch as the cat crosses the exact center of screen, there is a slight distortion because the combining of the two lenses is only perfect at a specific distance. (link)

No way to tell with a live varmint without getting shredded!

Thank you for the camera info. I had a different brand that worked about the same. (Susposed to work the same). I could only get them to work with a really strong cell signal. I have some tactacams with live view and its rare to get them to connect. They will send picturesmost of the time.
Nice video, I might try a Reolink, yours works great.
