When I was between 4 and 10, I used to be huge into catching and collecting butterflies. They were the most interesting animals I had access to at that age, in the townhouse we lived in. I had a dream that I caught a woman with butterfly wings and accidentally killed and framed her, while doing other butterflies. I never killed or framed another butterfly. I didn't keep any of the already framed ones either.

I think the dream came from reading the White Mountains in "Boys Life" where aliens do taxidermy on women and collect them by hair color.

I like good taxidermy, but bad taxidermy gives me what would now be called an ick. It's similar to the uncanny Valley sensation from human like things, that are close to human in appearance, but not close enough and not far enough away either.

It was the first line and I still missed it. I'm gonna blame it on a senior moment.

If I can ever get off our farm long enough and go visit my brother's family in Washington, I'd like to stop by and meet you and Fanny. We've talked on the phone and by PM a fair bit, but it's not the same.

There is good money in crafting fur. Sometimes better then good but you need a few things things to do that.

First is a product that is very good and not made by every fur crafter out there.
Second is venues that will be good to sale yout crafts at. Some venues are much better then others. For me it's reniasance fairs. Yes a lot of strange people attend these but I don't judge. That's not my place.
Third would be to not think of your merchandise as gold. Be realistic on pricing.

The right product made targeting the right sex will help also. Woman buy much more in Fur items designed for them then men ever will. I target the ladies but a lot of men buy from me also.
If you can make something the ladies love out of your fur you'll be a hit at your venues. It should something other then hats, mitts, and other items everyone else make in abundance.

Back to Ren fairs. They would be the best venues. My opinion. May not be yours but how many here know one of the biggest Ren fairs in the country was started by Johnny Thorpe and is still active run by his kids.
