Are the Victor Rat Traps, (I have the ones with the yellow plastic pans), adequate for ground squirrels, (in my case, the California ground squirrels).?
I know you need to drill a hole and tie them off to prevent them from getting hauled off after a catch, and the plastic pan is a bit slippery for staying set. I have used the mouse version and took a fine file to rough up the copper wire dog to help with keeping the pan set but until now have had no use for the rat-size trap.

Just doing what I want now.

If they're the size of a red squirrel, yes. If the size of a gray, no.

Thanks, Brian. They are about the size of a red.

I Used them once on a job, never again. Not big enough, it’s bad public relations to have a squirrel flopping around from bad strike. Even if you pin them down they are not big enough for our ground squirrels.

The Victor rats traps probably inadequate however a possible alternative would be the Koro rat traps. Have had success with them in a marmot problem getting the younger critters

I don’t think it’s quite enough trap every time…based on their performance in my weasel cans when a red squirrel or flying squirrel encounters the trap.
