Iv been thinking about dabbling in making lure to try and test what would be a good general generic base to start off with? Leaning more to the predator side of lures. Coyotes/coons. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Beaver or muskrat is always a good place to start. Its usually always available in some way.

You bet! But like TurtleDale said, beaver castor is also a great ingredient. Adding a small amount to your base ingredient can really help. If you do, start out with just a bit and go from there.

Fancy tallow fat is a very good base and ingredient for paste predator lures. It is a very functional material. Holds and gives off good odor, adds viscosity to the product, makes it waterproof, edible and easy to work with as well. Heat it or use it straight.
