Anyone buy any yesterday or today? I increased my position by 50 shares today. A 15% drop seemed like a good time to get a few more shares. A lot of chatter SpaceX will merge with Tesla sometime in the next couple of years. Glad I didn't buy the SpaceX IPO. I think the robotics arm of Tesla is going to be huge long term and if a merger takes place, well, I'm confidently hopeful it will be positive. Any thoughts? Morningstar puts a 12 month price target for Tesla shares at @ $450.

While i think Musk is a smart guy and a good engineer..........I have to pass on both TSLA and SPCX

SPCX doesn't yet earn a dime and the PE on TSLA is 347.79 !! That is astronomical IMO. And net profit is only 4%. If the two merged I believe it would be an even bigger mess. The only part of the whole works that is carrying the company is Starlink, and the other divisions of the company lose more money than Starlink makes.

I also do not think TSLA is viable long term. I think without ongoing federal subsidies to purchase EV's............ Toyota in the US and the Asian EV makers will eat Tesla's lunch.

Gonna be a lot of robotics competition from Asia also and not just China.

The idea I like the most is space based data centers. While it will be expensive to build them it will also solve the problem of the NIMBYs here in the states. Also, no land costs, property taxes, reduced cooling because of the temperature in orbit, constant energy from the sun so no need for large power plants. and the technology already exists to move data between space and Earth efficiently.

Well, the vast majority made in the market, and lost, is based on speculation. I'm betting on the smart guy and the many irons he has in the fire. Maybe, I should have sold when I had my first 100% gain...I hope not.

I wonder if that takes into account the reusable launch vehicle. Expensive either way

It's a concern, for sure, and I think you are correct in your assessment. I'm hoping to wait out the stupidity. I'm sure there will be some massive swings in the near term, but I also believe intelligence and common sense will rule long term. At least, I hope so! LOL. Meanwhile, In have some much safer investments, in case my gambles swirl the porcelain.

I didn't buy but buy and hold see where things shake out. I do have some of both scattered out in some fund that I own in Tech funds. Market timing never works in a mans favor so ride it out don't sell if things go south. I have seen to many do that and it was a mistake.

Good Luck!

Tesla is not going to be a car company much longer. It's a data company trying to switch over to a robot manufacturer.

If it isn't successful switching over there is a good chance it may not make it.

Don't count Elon out.

Naming an investment company Morningstar, presumably after the devil, has always seemed terrible to me.

I'm not sure what that has to do with TSLA, lol......... but since you like history......

Quote
That year, Mansueto chose a more flexible name for his company, changing it to Morningstar Inc. after the ending of Henry David Thoreau's Walden. In the June 1, 1998, issue of Crain's Chicago Business, Mansueto explained that he was first influenced by the author's themes of independence, thrift, and self-reliance as a college student, and that they remained important to him during his business career: "I thought those were good qualities for a company to embody. And I still remembered that last line of Walden: 'The sun is but a morning star.'"

The EV car thing is starting to play out IMO. People are starting to see EVs are not the cost/time saver they were cracked up to be. They actually cost more in time and money to own than any gas vehicle by comparison. (initial cost + upkeep + maintenance).

How many lies will people believe before they realize their own idiocy?

I'm not investing in Tesla because of their presence in the EV market, I'm betting on their robotics technology and AI tech. I also believe the self driving cars will be huge in the metro areas. We shall see.

I love that people are investing in and continue to believe in America but why do you feel Teslas robotics are going to win out over china's?

They do seem to be behind the curve for robotics and AI
And considering their cars sales makeup 75% of their revenue id be hoping it doesn't fail and actually started having better profit margins if I was investing in them. But im new to this and maybe im not seeing the fundamentals right.
