Where and why?

I've noticed deer here tend to bed in areas with consistent wind direction or predictable thermals, with good vision in the opposite direction or a thick backdrop where aproach is noisy or uncomfortable and multiple escape routes.

Depends on the time of year, bucks or does, insect populations, shade and wind flow, thermal cover in the dead of Winter and proximity to their main food source.
