No pictures, but I broke a 3/4 tap off in a 1 inch steel plate. That day sucked.

was it a blind hole? it's really bad when it is a blind hole.

my son broke the exhaust stud off on his Yamaha Vstar 650 about 3 weeks ago , so he orders a induction bolt heater , heats it up red hot , snaps flush
so he grinds it flat and drills in with a left handed drill bit , then tries to use the stud extractor and it snaps off so now he has hardened steel in a steel bolt in an alunimum head

then the motor had to come out and it ended up on my dining room table with a few sheets of cardboard under it , we are men not animals . he used a carbide bur on a dremmel tool to slowly work all around that extractor till it was out then drilled out the old stud ,

he had enough meat and a big enough hole by that point he drilled it out and tapped it 1/2 -13 then put a grade 2 bolt in and ground it off flush and center punched and drilled and tapped for the original 8mmx1.25 studs right where they needed to be.
engine came out of the bike on Monday night he was riding again by 5pm Saturday
then literally a week later because he had gone on a ride with friends that Sunday after getting the bike going for 12 hours 355 miles over the course of the day decided he needed a bigger bike that rode better and Saturday bought a used HD Sportster xl1200r

he has put on 3K miles in the last 2 months over 500 on the Harley since Saturday. he rode it darn near to Chicago yesterday after work to buy a HD clip on windshield for it from a guy on marketplace. the guy is moving out of the ILL state for ID selling his bike and the guy buying it didn't want the windscreen it is not a big one but just enough to block some wind and take a lot of the bugs.

I cooked a few 1/2 inch drill bits this weekend , I just figure drill bits are consumables budget a buck for every hole and you won't be mad when you break it and have to get another.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Looks like something bit yah....if a red line starts going up your leg..

Seek medical attention....

Being a Yankee...I'd get it looked at before that happens.

But you'll probably just rub some Skoal and honey on it..

Your leg is bruised from the knee to the ankle and you don't know how you did it? Were you drinking with Savell and Sam last night or what?

Not a blind hole. But the place wouldn't issue a "hot work" permit to burn it out. So I had to chisel it into a billion little pieces.
