Pruned a little harder last Fall. I think the limbs are going to get ripped off this one before the apple ripen. They are small due to the drought but there sure are a lot of them.

I tied a few tamarack saplings together 6” from the top,and supported my pembina plum to keep them from breaking, did it in a half dozen places, using my natural genius….and s flagging tape to hold things temporarily.

Well, now you understand my handicap. That tree broke off in a windstorm 10-15 years ago and has been all top since. This fall I am going to take the chainsaw to it and prune it hard. It is a great producing tree but in hindsight, I never should have planted any apples within 100 feet of the house. In a few weeks every yellow jacket in the country will be on the ground eating fallen apples.

Take 0.6cc of Navigator SC and put it in 2 cans of tuna and put it out for the yellow jackets and hornets and you likely won't see anymore, the whole rest of the year, within a few hours.

I drain the tuna water. Mix the Navigator SC into the water. Mix the treated water back into the tuna and put a small bit, in a few cans hanging from my fruit trees. It works great.

Fipronil is very effective against about any colony insects. Really hard on honey bees too.

Honeybees don't eat the tuna. Yellow jackets and hornets rob honey and larvae from honeybee hives. They can weaken a hive, so that it fails. It's better for honeybees if they die.

I have a 2x6 under two limbs, but 1 big doe loves the tree lowering the limbs so she can eat the apples.

Not hardly any apples in a large area where I live. Late frosts and wind storms while in blossom did a number on all berry and fruit trees. I have a lot of saskatoon, choke cherry and chokecherry a handful of fruit at best on all the all trees. Sucks!!!
