Just to clarify, Beaver sac oil or something else?

I have nothing clever to put here.

Tatiana is that a marten? If so that is a different color my guess not so desirable.

It's a kharza a.k.a. yellow-throated marten, but they're not closely related to true martens (it will most likely be kicked out into a genus of its own, like the fisher). To give you the idea of their size, the little drab thing on the right is a sable, and sable are almost the same as the American marten.

We have them in the Far East but they're mostly tropical. They hunt in packs and deliberately follow and kill sable, just like sable and pine marten target smaller mustelids.

The fur is not impressive, something between mink and short-haired house cat, and they're a protected species anyway.

Someone posted this picture years ago in a big sable trapping thread on an outdoors forum here, but that thread has since been deleted due to greenies' complaints about legholds.

Wow! that is crazy. Sable/marten are such fascinating creatures: from the tropics to the arctic.

Males are bigger than females.
here's a female kharza, female fisher, large male sable and a smallish male American marten
[Linked Image]

the zoo in my city has a big successful breeding program for them, they trade them for various exotic animals
