Got back from commercial sockeye a week ago. Despite being the crappiest weather in 20 years, (four lost fishing days) it was still a great season, and great fish price.\
One of my young crewmen, 17 y.o., got paid yesterday, checkout what he bought with this years crew share today, he blew nearly his entire paycheck. Oh well, I'm happy for him, I've never owned a truck this nice.

That is great!!! You are a lucky man.

Give me a fish, I will eat for a day. Teach me to fish, I will eat for a lifetime

At least he was smart enough to buy a truck with it! Back when I fished sockeye in Bristol Bay, I saw many crew man blow the seasons wages on booze, drugs, and hookers as soon as they got back to Anchorage

Great job there. Safely home and your crew member has some thing to show for his work.

wild salmon is up a third or more is price here. $16 to $17 a pound for fillets. Getting hard to justify buying it anymore. No fresh halibut to be had and frozen is $25 a pound if you could find it. I think most of the catch is going to restaurants where they can upsell it. Wild salt water fish and crabs except for junk rockfish is expensive.
