At least 4 active fires in and around Spokane, sounds like much of northwest Spokane is on fire. Spokane has had no rain for over a month and today the winds were 30 to 40 miles per hour. I am sure much of the northwest will be on fire until the fall rains start which could be a couple months yet.

as in many states, a couple big cities drive policy for the whole state.

in my perfect world, cities should have to live with their own policies; and let the rest of us live with OUR values.

No matter whether people are very conservative or radical poor policy making and living lib tards, its aweful to lose a home, property, livestock or most of all, lives to these wild fires. They need our prayers along with the men and women battling the fires!

Fires around Spokane are serious and just a couple hours west in North Central WA (Okanogan County) they are evacuating whole towns so yes eastern WA is burning up So far Loomis, Conconelly, Ellisforde and threatening g Tonasket everything west of the Okanogan River, North of Omak. Had to close down 1 shelter area for evacuation and move it further south. Setting up evacuation shelter area in Home Depot and Walmart Parking lots for RV's.
The area is drier than popcorn fa-t in he[[ and 25 -35 mph winds.
Prayers are appreciated but what we really need is a 4 to 5 day gulley washer, otherwise these fires will burn until the snow flies.

That would require the ability to equate cause and effect they dont have. Instead they will bail it on climant change and double down on failed ideas. [Linked Image]

We are in Seattle babysitting grandkids for the weekend but from what I can get from the news the one big fire is in the city boundaries. Evacuation areas include much of northwest Spokane. News updates are pretty sketchy, not much I can find for morning updates. Spokane is fairly conservative but I wouldn't wish fire on the furthest left of the democrats.

Thanks!!! Really vague on any details what I can find. Sounds like just another wildfire that require evaluations. I would think if it is this serious some factual detailed coverage of the fire would be reported on.

I know the Whitworth college campus in north Spokane was evacuated and that the evacuation areas runs right to Division street which is the main north-south street for the city.

I live 35 miles southeast of Lewiston, which is directly south of Spokane by 100 miles. From my house to my mom's house in Walla Walla the smoke is thick. Lewiston sits in a hole and the smoke has really settled in there. Been that way for 2 plus weeks. We drove over to Walla Walla yesterday and the sky is just a gloomy, gray endlessly.

Trail cameras and fresh snow have broke a lot of trapper’s hearts.

Anyone who's driven through the suburbs of Spokane will know that the area is relatively dry, and there are lots of very flamable ponderosa pine trees with a ground cover of tinder-dry pine needles. You couldn't create a better condition for uncontrollable fires.

Every year fire officials warn folks of the need to create defensible space around their houses, yet very few people do. Many beautiful homes in the area with beautiful landscaping (trees) right up to the houses.

The initial ICS-209 for the Old Trails fire shows 3,500 acres with 400 structures destroyed. I would say it is IN town.

I have nothing clever to put here.
