Changing needs.
When I was in my late teens and 20 my father in law had a 4x4 truck that was 2wd higth.. At the time I thought that was pointless. I needed more ground clearance to get to my hunting and fishing spots. I never liked trucks jacked up in the sky with a bunch of body lift for show and making them top heavy and not adding any ground clearance that was not useful. What I wanted was just enough suspension and body lift to accommodate larger tires to get more ground clearance. Back them I had a lot of places I drove that was needed.
Today at 46 and just geting back to a 4x4 from a 2wd. I no longer hunt or drive where I need ground clearance I can drive a car about everywhere I go but need 4x4 traction.
I like geting in and out of the taller truck , geting things out of the bed is more work, having to climb in or up on a tire to reach over the side of the truck ve reaching right in and grabbing things.
I have come full circle and if picking a truck I would pick a 4x4 that is 2wd higth and see the benifits. I like to think im practical and needs have changed along with some health issues im admiting . But there is that your becoming a broken down little old man thing in the back of my mind.
Anyone else notice transitions similar to this. I wonder if its just changing needs and learning what you need.
What are some thing's you thought were pointless that you now not only think are useful but come to prefer.
