So, this is why we keep vinegar ,dawn dish soap and baking soda on hand at all times. I trap and shoot all i can. But, they still show up occasionally.
Great way to start a Monday. I have the best wife. Not afraid to help de-scent the dog.
I saw it but it escaped before I could shoot it. Looks like I'm setting traps this evening.

What are the mixing ratios ???

For a liquid mix. 1/4 cup of dawn, 1/4 cup of vinegar and 2 cups of baking soda. Add or subtract warm water
for your desired consistency. When I get it on me. I mix it into a paste and apply about 3 times while in the shower. The dog stays on the porch until dry.
The dog usually becomes tolerable after 2 applications.
Just don't get it in their eyes.
Dawn cuts the oil and soda for de-scenting, vinager for cleaning.
Clean dog and human with washcloth.

Never heard or used that formula.

My go to is 1 qt. hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and a squirt of dishwashing liquid (I use dawn) Very effective....

This! You can't neutralize acid, with acid. The vinegar will cancel out the baking soda.

Orange degreaser works great as well

The peroxide formula, this I read, Does not kill the scent. It's molecules combine with the essence molecules have a chemical reaction and end up turning into a mild scentless acid
And yes it works and fairly quick.
Only problem I've had with it is if it's left on a skunk or any haired critter it will change the colors in the hair.

Yes, peroxide works to. I use both at times. I say, if it works for you. Then by all means use it.
She is now skunk free and smells good after a bath.
Pepe Lepew is on my target list. The .22, 12ga., 308, or my glocks are ready. Wouldn't mind a little target practice just before our August 15th opener for deer with my ..308.

A buddy of ours sort of had the same thing happen to him. Jack Russel T, let it out, it wined, he let it back in with yellow stuff dripping off it and went straight to the bed room and jumped in bed with his wife. Very expensive clean up........jk

I see several versions of this recipe. The bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide has to be new, unopened to be effective.

Skunk Away - Instantly and totally removes the stink.
1 quart 3% hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda
1 tsp. Liguid soap
Mix well together, keeping the mixture out of the animal's eyes, nose and mouth. Follow with a thorough tap-water rinse.
