Anyone ever done it ? Love the way this gun looks with wood and steel and don't wanna add one of the usual cheek risers I do ....but the way it is I can't really shoot it because with good cheek weld my sight picture is below the the scope rail so really need to add some kinda riser to the stock ... Figured I could just sand and glue a chunk of 2x2 shape it, blend it and re stain but not really sure. Also never tried to sand and fit somthign to a rounded deal like like on the stock so how would y'all go about something like this ?

position your cheek higher on the stock. No two guns I own have the same anchor for my cheek. But when looking thru a scope I simply move my cheek up or down until i have full view thru the optics. Cost a fortune and way to much trouble to add or take away from every gun i've ever shot.

I have to have chin weld for this. Not solid at all nor comfortable doesn't work well. I'd say a good 70% of rifles I've messed with would require modification for me to use since I'm built like most people 14yr grand kids . It's why just about all my scoped guns have adjustable stocks with adjustable risers

I would just replace the stock and forearm with one that has a higher cheek plate. I even happen to know a guy with some NEF/H&R sets..........

They sell lace on leather/nylon cheek piece risers just for that.

They typically don't work well with a thumb hole stock.

You seem like a crafty dude that likes tinkering. Take the stock off, set up a jig so you can run the top through a table saw to get a nice flat cut. One flat plane. Glue a chunk down to that a shape to your liking. Titebond III. God knows you’ve chopped on guns before lol.

it'll be a lot easier to sand and stain,if you do it before you glue it to your cheek......plus, you'll get less saw dust in your eyes.

This would be how I would approach it. Probably be next to impossible to match the wood pattern exactly.

What DT said. Figure out what type of wood is in the stock. Laminate the part your adding using black epoxy . You won't be able to get a match on that laminate, consider a contrasting addition.

That's a nice laminated wood stock. I would not cut on it or try to fit something to glue on. Even if you manage to do it the rifle will be an ugly mess. You might drill and install threaded inserts and make an adjustable cheekpiece like you described having on other rifles. That could still look good and not affect potential resale value at some later date. I know you said you don't want a leather/nylon add on cheek riser, but that is what I would do.
