Those bright colored balls might help you find your traps or the thief but you do know raccoons are colorblind. Any but hey anything that increases your confidence go for it. Just something else to carry

I’ve used the fish pellets and a small pellet dry cat food. I add powdered cherry kool aid and some liquid cherry essence. Put the in a 5 gallon bucket and mix. I let it sit for a month, stirring about once a week! To use I just sprinkle a handful around the DP and some in the trap! It works well even catching the occasional skunk.

It’s not just about attracting critters and then working the set. When running a line efficiency comes to the fore. How do you quickly easily, no spill, get that bait in a dp, or 32 dp’s? How is it carried and delivered to the set? I’m constantly wiping my nose/face/eyes with my hands, I think we all do. I don’t want to taste and smell my bait in my mustache all day long.

I have a set up that sits in the back of my truck. It holds all the DPs in the set position, and they are all pre baited. To re bait I have a container and a funnel to re fill the traps. 95% of my DP trapping is 20 yards from the truck.

But big coon are curious enough to pull the covers off and reach in.

You can make your own with 3/4-inch plastic pipe, a fender washer and some glue. Duck decoy cord keeps the caps attached to the traps. Even if they get chewed apart, you’ll have about 40-cents into them. The Zcaps are a bit more but they last forever.

Never covered a dp in my life. Sure have caught alot of coons in the past. Like my apprentice said . Strawberry marshmallows. Carry in gal Ziplock bag. Munch on them if you want a sweet snack. Carry in your coat pocket. Use cable ties and wrap around tree or log . No hammer . No digging tool. Just traps and pocket full of goodness. [Linked Image]

This works as a little smear on top of trap.

If a spot is good enough for 1 DP, it's good enough for 2 (or more). Bait them all with something different.
