pintail_drake04 OP trapper Joined: Dec 2006 So. IL	Hey Gents, Has anyone here ever restored an Oliver tractor? I picked up an Oliver 550 for my daughter to play around with on the farm. I'm in the process of taking it apart, cleaning it up, getting ready to repaint. I started looking for paint and was a bit surprised with what I found. Our local AGCO did not recommend the paint they carry (Van Sickle) for Oliver, but didn't offer any alternative. I've searched and it seem like folks have use Majic paint, Tallmans, Van Sickle, and more. Which brand gets closest to the Meadow Green Oliver tractors used to be?

Wright Brothers trapper W Joined: Dec 2006 Pa	I been using majic. It's cheap. I learned not to use another brand reducer or thinner. It turned to cottage cheese. It's cheap, if doing garage queen work I wouldn't use it. Works fine for my working tools. Rust is my enemy. If you have an Ollies store, check there. Oh and it only takes a month to dry lol.

benelli7979 trapper B Joined: Apr 2008 Hew Harmony Indiana	I have restored a lot of Oliver’s over the years. Mostly 2 digit and 4 digit tractors. I have always went to an agco dealer and asked for there meadow green and it laid down amazing. Has lasted very well too. I don’t know who makes AGCO paints but it good stuff. You need to look up Korves Oliver parts as they are in southern Illinois mark is who you need to speak with. Also maibach tractor in Ohio they will ship to you ask for Randy at the parts counter he’s fantastic. If you need any help pm me anytime love old Oliver’s !! Yes.. do you have a part of the tractor with the color you Want ?? Then the paint store can put the " Camera " on that piece.. And it will come up with a close match .. Nason is a division of Dupont. It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.
